2012 Boys and Girls Track & Field
Madison East welcomes NEW Head Coaches!
Principal Mary Kelley announced at the monthly booster club meeting that they have hired two new coaches to lead the tracksters. Venus Washington was named the girls head coach and David Wasserman was hired to lead the boys.
Venus Washington is a former University of Wisconsin athlete and captain where she jumped and sprinted to an incredible career there. She was East's jumps coach last season, coaching first year athlete Tyrone Galvin to a city championship, city meet record, and a state medal performance in La Crosse. Galvin took 4th place at state with a personal best jump and was named team Field MVP for the season thanks to the guidance and expertise of Washington.
David Wasserman will take over as the boys head coach after his first season as assistant coach for the boys cross country team at East and several years coaching at Madison West. While at West, Wasserman helped lead the Regent cross and distance groups helping establish them as one of the best distance programs in the state. This feat he will look to do at East as he builds the boys track program.
Congratulations to Coach Washington and Wasserman!
